Cindy Brown - Impressive Heat Embossing

I now have so many new ways to use embossing powder and I have incorporated several of these ideas into this card. I just ordered and received the inks "Coffee Break" and the die set "Nesting Labels" from Altenew. I was anxious to make something my new Altenew products and therefore I included them in this project.
I began by stamping Altenew's "Dainty Swiss Dots" with white embossing paper onto Neenah Solar White Cardstock. I then die cut this with Altenew's "Nesting Labels" die set. I then used Altenew's Coffee Break inks to create an ombre effect by ink blending the most center section with Sand Dunes, followed by Rocky Shore for the next section and then Mocha for the outer section. I mounted each of the layers on graduating levels of foam so that the center level was the highest.
I then began to emboss the flowers from Altenew's "Cosmo" stamp and die set. For these flowers, I first embossed a pearly white for the first layer of color, followed by a copper embossing powder for the definition, black embossing powder for the center of the flowers and gold for the stems. These flowers were created completely from heat embossing. I then arranged the flowers which I had first intended to place in the gold embossed vase which I stamped from Altenew's "Versatile Vases", but then I decided to arrange the flowers into a bouquet that I tied into a bow with May's twine. I adhered a single golden pearl to the center of the bow with glossy accents--both for embellishment and to affix the bow so it will not come undone. I also attached a small label with the sentiment "hello" from Altenew's "Versatile Vases"
Detail of the embossed flowers and of the embossed white dots.
I arranged everything on a white top-fold card base. I used very slender pieces of adhesive foam to support the flower stems and the flowers as the flowers are supported upon 2 levels arranged in an upward step. I arranged the tag with sentiment to the side. I thought about adding the Altenew origami veneer butterfly which is in this photograph,  but was concerned it would introduce clutter to the card. I may create another card with less going on with the flowers so that I can add the butterfly as I love the veneer with the Coffee Break Colors from Altenew.

  1. The card and layout looks fantastic. A slightly lighter colour on the frames would have really made the flowers pop, Cindy. Love the use of different shades of embossing powders.
Thank you for entering your gorgeous work to the AECP assignment gallery.
