Cindy Brown - Color Your Day

Altenew's "Color Your Day" course gave me more confidence with the use of color, as I have gained some nice color theory to help me feel more comfortable with my color selections. For this blog entry, I am focusing mostly on color and much less on the process of putting a card together. I chose Altenew ""Best Mom" stamp as I love how the small flowers flow and curve from the main flowers. I recently purchased this stamp at 45% off during one of Altenew's amazing weekly sales.
The blue background was created with a watercolor wash on watercolor paper. The blue, along with the white card base comprise 70 percent of the color in this card. Next, at 20 percent of the card are the pink flowers, and then 10 percent is the color from the green leaves. I could even consider the green leaves as part of the 70 percent neutral colors with the splatters of Purple Heart as the 10 percent.

The colors were chosen from the color wheel, which was one of the lessons in this course. The pinks/ reds/purples are part of a triad to the blue background and the greens are a split-complementary to the pink flowers and the purple-red splatters. The jewels and pearl that I used to embellish are actually a pretty pink but the photo is not capturing this very well.
The detail here reveals the watercolors I used from my Altenew 36 Pan Set. I used Cotton Candy and Puffy Heart for the flowers and Purple Wine for the splatters. The green is Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades. The blue in the background is from PinkFresh in Sky Blue liquid watercolor. I love this color of blue for the background. I am sure I could mix this color from my Altenew colors and when I run out of the Sky Blue, I will mix the color from my Altenew supplies.
I liked this stamp so much, I kept making cards. The white is the 70 percent here with green as the 20 percent and pops of yellow with yellow jewels as the 10 percent. I used my Altenew Artist Markers and the "Thank You" die from Altenew.
And, still loving this stamp set so much, I made another card. Again, I used my Altenew Artist Markers. I again used white as 70 percent of the color. The "happy" die is from Altenew and "BIRTHDAY" is from Altenew's Birthday Builder set.
