Cindy Brown- Easy Die Cutting Repeat

This is a repeat of the assignment Easy Die Cutting. Please see the first assignment post for the comments as to why I am reattempting this assignment. Basically, I used dies for the background which were not proportioned to the focal image. I appreciate the discerning eyes of my AECP coordinators to point this out to me and give me another chance to meet the standards for this assignment. My repeat assignment follows.

I began by looking for dies which would be more balanced with the focal image. I used the Altenew die Rose Flurries 3D Die and Garden Picks 3D Die. I die cut the flowers and foliage from Garden Picks 3D Die from Canson Cold Press 140 pound watercolor paper.

I watercolored the flowers with Altenew dye inks in Pink Diamond for the lightest, Pinkalicious and Rubellite for medium colors and Razzleberry for the darkest pieces of the  3D flowers. I used the Altenew Watercolor 36 pan set to paint the foliage in Evergreen and Frayed Leaf. For the yellow smaller flowers and the center of one of the flowers, I used the Altenew Artist Markers in Mango Smoothie and Buttercream. I then began to assemble the flowers and foliage together with glue to create these beautiful 3D florals.
For the background, I die cut along the bottom with Altenew's Creative Edges: Lace Die. I die cut the leaves with a die from Altenew Rose Flurries 3D and from Altenew Garden Picks 3D die. I used double-sided adhesive on the back of the paper so that I could adhere the die-cut card stock to the Altenew Gold Mirror cardstock.

I constructed the flowers and leaves and arranged them around the die-cut background with glue and foam tape.
To finish the card, I stamped a sentiment from the Altenew stamp set Smiles and Hugs and used Versamark and detail fine gold embossing powder to create a gold heat-embossed sentiment that I adhered with foam tape  to the lower center area of the card. I wanted to add a jewel or sequin or three for embellishment, but I thought the card was complete as is. What do you think? Could I put any embellishments on this card?

  1. FANTASTIC! I see you took in the suggestions and chose the perfect dies for the background. Thank you for the detailed description and close up shots. Love the way you coloured the die cuts too. One tip photography wise, please leave a bit of space between your project and where the photo ends. This provides a breathing room so our eyes can focus on the project. In case you dont understand what I mean, please feel free to email me. I am happy to help.
