Cindy Brown/Let It Shine-Metallic Paper

For the ACEP assignment, I chose to present the work I did with metallic paper, though all of the assignments created a stunning card. I had to use restraint on this card as I wanted to present the blue "hello" with a look of being dipped into gold or even cover the "hello" with glitter. There are so many ideas from this class that I will carry forward.

Gold stitches on paper

I used paper that I have from the  Altenew Reflection  Collection.  I selected two patterns one for the side and the larger piece for the body). I cut a piece of paper at 2.75 inches and 5.25 inches and a piece of Altenew Vellum at the same size. I then sewed the two pieces together near the edge with gold polyester Gutermann thread. I had never sewn paper together before and I will be repeating this as it was so smooth and easy and  results are so lovely.
Once sewn, I added tape along the back edge and adhered a slender piece of Altenew Mirror Gold paper, followed by a wider piece of Altenew Reflection Scrapbook paper.  I then adhered this to a 110 pound Neenah solar white top folded card stock base.

I then used ink blending with Altenew Galactic Stream ink and cut out the Altenew "hello" die.

I also used the Altenew "hello" die to cut out the Altenew Mirror Gold paper. I used some small heart dies that I have (I don't remember where I got them) to cut out Mirror Gold heart embellishments.

I used Gina K glue to apply the Mirror Gold "hello" and then the Galactic Stream "hello" offset just to the right over the gold "hello". I then placed 5 gold hearts in triangular patterns over the card.
My card was finished. I think it's so pretty and I learned that a very small amount of bright, gold paper will go a long way to bring shine to a card. I also learned that I can sew on my cards with shiny, metallic threads!

  1. This is a lovely card! Love that you added stitching. Just a tip, when you offset another cardstock (in this case gold hello), try not to offset it so much that gaps appear between the two die cuts. I hope you get what I mean :)
Also, I am noticing that there is a little darkness on the right side of your photos, which means the light source is on the left? So if this is the case, keep a reflector (usually a white piece of cardstock) opposite to your light source (in this case on your right, as a wall). This is help reflect the light.
Or maybe it's just a shadow of something, you should check out whats causing the shadow. In some photos it's fine, but like the second last one has a quite evident dark right hand side.
In case you dont understand what I mean, please feel free to email me :)
I am so glad that you entered your beautiful work in the AECP assignment Gallery. Awesome details and design! Well done.
