Cindy Brown- In the Mood for Color

In the Mood for Color is a course I just completed with Altenew Academy. Each of the six lessons in this course focused on the emotions of a different color.  I am highlighting the project I completed with pink because this project made me the happiest. It is thought, per the lesson instructor, that pink exemplifies the sensitive, caring and sweet and I don't disagree with this idea. I like the idea of using color as another way to communicate the intention and sentiment of a card. I stamped the butterflies for this card with the pink collection from Altenew called Rose Petals (lightest first):    Cosmic Berry, Purple Wine, Puffy Heart and Rose Quartz.
I stamped the butterflies onto Bristol smooth paper. The butterfly outlines were stamped with Clair pigment ink in Nocturne. The sentiment is from the Altenew Halftone Smile set and was stamped with Altenew dye ink in  Industrial Diamond and the "you make me" sentiment was stamped with the darkest pink from the Rose Petal collection (Rose Quartz). The images were stamped in one layer.
To bring more pink to my card, I adhered one side of a 1/4 inch double sided tape to a strip of the Cardstock and I used a firm brush to burnish extra fine pink glitter into the sticky tape until the tape was smooth and covered with glitter.  I learned this technique from you-tube or from Altenew Academy (this is where I have learned everything about card-making). This technique allows the creation of glitter paper accents in any glitter color. I used a coffee filter to work on, to allow me to pour the unused glitter back into the bottle and to minimize the waste and messiness of glitter.

Next, on the other side of the strip of cardstock, I used the technique of scuffing ink (in Altenew Puffy Heart to match the butterflies). Scuffing is a technique I learned previously in the Altenew Academy and involves using the edge of the ink pad and scuffing it along the paper to color the paper. This is a way to custom create a paper color from plain white paper and comes in very handy when a precise color is needed.
I then cut this strip in half so that I had a glitter strip and an ink strip.

I used a ruler to measure exactly, and layered the two strips on the left of the card with the inked strip on the outside, and glued them to the card base. I then used foam tape to adhere the card panel to the base. The panel had been cut to 4 inches instead of 4.25 inches, leaving 1/4 inches open for placement of the strips to show.

 .

I then embellished the card with various sizes of silver sequins and placed pink jewels, slightly offset from  the center of the sequins, to bring even more pink to the card.  The photograph doesn't capture how pretty these pink jewels look on the card.
