The embossing powder also held in the water and paint that I used from my helped me with the painting of the flowers. To paint the flowers, I used Altenew watercolor 36 pan set and used all of the colors from the 4 color set "Warm and Cozy." The Altenew paint set matches the Altenew ink and alcohol markers. I painted the flowers using several layers so that I could get some depth. I am new to watercoloring, but I have noticed that as I keep practicing, my watercoloring gets a little better. I then die-cut the flowers.
The first "twist" for this card, was to use a technique the instructor called "faux embossing with die cutting," and for this technique, the flowers will be glued to the card.
The second "twist" that I used was to use orange and pink together. To do this, I prepared my card base by cutting pink cardstock into a top-folding A-2 sized card. The third "twist" was to cut the front panel and card base at a slant, allowing the inside of the card to show through to the front. I then added a pink and white striped paper along the right edge.
For the card panel, I cut Neenah Solar White Cardstock at a slant to match the card base. I then arranged and glued the flowers to the panel, using the faux embossing with die cutting technique. While gluing the flowers, I left room for the sentiment.
For the sentiment, I die-cut 3 strips of cardstock (pink, white, pink and white striped) into fish-tailed and edge-stitched strips which I staggered horizontally and then glued together. I stamped "I Adore You" from the same stamp set I used for the flowers with black Pigment ink followed with clear heat embossing which made the letters bolder and crisper.
I then glued the sentiment strip so that the strip partially rested on the front panel and floated on top of the pink inside of the card as it sat in the negative space left after cutting the slant.
I then glued 5 fuchsia jewels near the flowers for another layer of fun embellishment.
I am looking forward to continuing to use these ideas in future cards.
Thank you for such a detailed, step by step process of your card making! The card layout is clever and fun. I like that you incorporated several twists in your project.
